Monica developed a keen interest in fashion as a young girl. It started when her grandpa came into the living room dressed for the day. Monica looked up at him dismayed. She said, “Grandpa, you can’t wear that. Plaid and stripes don’t go together. Go change your clothes.” And so he went and changed. She has continued to be opinionated about fashion ever since. Monica grew up in a family of crafty people and developed a love of making clothing and accessories by hand. She is mostly self-taught and continued her education at Minneapolis Community & Technical College in the Apparel Technology program. She works in her studio at her farm in Wisconsin and is currently focusing on creating felted textiles.
My current collection, Eco-elegance, is focused on the idea of ethical, sustainable, eco-friendly bridal wear. These dresses are made from re-purposed fabrics and hand-made textiles produced with fiber from local farmers. This allows the bride to honor the earth while celebrating her commitment to her partner. I’m deeply committed to creating clothing that is ethical, local, and responsible. From farm to closet – clothes you can trust.
